A Simple Approach to H-Infinity Analysis

چکیده
We revisit the classical H∞ analysis problem of computing the `-induced norm of a linear time-invariant system. We follow an approach based on converting the problem of maximization over signals to that of maximization over a sort of deterministic covariance matrices. The reformulation in terms of these covariance matrices greatly simplifies the dynamic analysis problem and converts the computation to a convex, constrained matrix maximization problem. Furthermore, the equivalence is for the actual H∞ norm of the system rather than a bound, and thus does not require the typical “gamma iterations”. We argue that this approach is both attractive, elementary, and constructive in that the worst case disturbance is also easily obtained as a state feedback constructed from the solution of the matrix problem. We give an illustrative example with some interpretations of the results. NOTATION R The set of real numbers. Sn The set of n× n symmetric matrices. S+ The set of n× n symmetric positive semidefinite matrices. S++ The set of n× n symmetric positive definite matrices. A B ⇐⇒ A−B ∈ S+. A B ⇐⇒ A−B ∈ S++. Tr Tr (A) is the trace of the matrix A. In Denotes the n× n identity matrix. 0m×n Denotes the m× n zero matrix.

An approach to rank efficient DMUs in DEA based on combining Manhattan and infinity norms
In many applications, discrimination among decision making units (DMUs) is a problematic technical task procedure to decision makers in data envelopment analysis (DEA). The DEA models unable to discriminate between extremely efficient DMUs. Hence, there is a growing interest in improving discrimination power in DEA yet. The aim of this paper is ranking extreme efficient DMUs in DEA based on exp...

In this paper, a direct data-driven approach is proposed to tune fixed-order controllers for unknown stable LTI plants in a mixed-sensitivity loop-shaping problem. The method requires a single set of input-output samples and it is based on simple convex optimization techniques; moreover, it guarantees internal stability as the data-length tends to infinity. Compared to a standard model-based ap...

In this paper, an integration of a symbolic power series method - Padé approximation technique (PS - Padé), was utilized to solve a system of nonlinear differential equations arising from the similarity solution of laminar thermal boundary layer over a flat plate subjected to a convective surface boundary condition. As both boundary conditions tended to infinity, the combination of series solut...
